Innovative Solutions Through Collaborative Science
The Transdisciplinary Research Core at the Institute of Health Resilience and Innovation drives groundbreaking research by integrating diverse scientific approaches to address complex health challenges. We believe that the most effective solutions emerge from collaboration across disciplines—bringing together expertise in psychology, sociology, biology, public health, economics, political science, anthropology, and more.
Our mission is to facilitate and support innovative, interdisciplinary research that aligns with the institute’s Cells to Society framework, ensuring that all research addresses the biological, psychological, social, and environmental factors that influence health and resilience.
What We Do
The Transdisciplinary Research Core provides resources and services to foster collaboration, promote high-quality research, and ensure that findings have real-world impact.

Biomarker and Neurobiological Assessment Hub
Combines molecular, cellular, and neurobiological research to explore the biological processes underlying health outcomes. The hub integrates advanced neuroimaging (e.g., fMRI) with biomarker analysis to provide a comprehensive framework for studying health disparities

Clinical Collaboration Hub
Builds partnerships with healthcare institutions, including the Texas Medical Center and Harris Health, to streamline translational research and promote clinical collaborations. The hub facilitates Institutional Review Board (IRB) agreements, assists in identifying collaborators, and hosts public forums to share research findings with diverse audiences.

Community Engagement and Impact Hub
Collaborates with community stakeholders to co-create research agendas that reflect community priorities. This hub ensures that research findings are actionable and accessible, strengthening the connection between science and society.
Our Approach
The Transdisciplinary Research Core is committed to breaking down silos and encouraging collaboration across academic fields. Our approach ensures that research is not only innovative but also reflective of the real-world complexity of health.
- Interdisciplinary Study Design: We provide support for developing study designs that integrate perspectives from multiple disciplines.
- Knowledge Dissemination: We assist with manuscript preparation, conference presentations, and community engagement efforts to ensure research findings are widely shared and impactful.
- Advanced Research Support: From biomarker integration to neuroimaging expertise, we help researchers develop projects that are scientifically rigorous and groundbreaking.
Why It Matters
Complex health challenges require comprehensive solutions. The Transdisciplinary Research Core ensures that researchers have the resources and collaborative networks they need to develop those solutions—turning discovery into innovation that improves lives.
