IHRI Seed Grants Program 2026 - 2027
Graduate Student Dissertation Seed Grant
The Institute of Health Resilience and Innovation (IHRI) invites Rice doctoral candidates to apply for dissertation seed grants of up to $5,000. Funds may support data or biospecimen collection, access to existing datasets, analysis, and other dissertation research costs.
IHRI supports research on the conditions that promote health and resilience across the life course. We examine how individuals, families, and communities adapt, recover, and thrive in the face of illness, caregiving, and social and environmental adversity, integrating social, behavioral, and biological approaches from cells to society.
Eligible projects must:
- Address a scientific question using human data or biospecimens
- Focus on any stage of life; projects do not need to focus on aging
- Involve new data/biospecimen collection or analysis of existing human data/biospecimens
- Evaluate any proposed device, app, or tool using human data
Interdisciplinary research and collaboration with Texas Medical Center investigators are encouraged but not required.
