Empowering Researchers and Building Future Leaders
The Career and Grant Development Core at the Institute of Health Resilience and Innovation is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of health researchers and empowering faculty and trainees with the skills, resources, and mentorship needed to succeed. This core serves as a comprehensive resource for professional growth, grant development, and fostering interdisciplinary research collaborations.
Our goal is to help researchers at all stages of their careers—whether students, postdoctoral fellows, or seasoned faculty—navigate the complexities of securing research funding and building impactful careers in health resilience and innovation. By promoting collaboration and providing targeted support, we ensure that innovative ideas become successful projects that drive real-world change.
What We Offer
The Career and Grant Development Core provides an array of services and resources:
- Grant Development and Training Hub: Comprehensive support for identifying funding opportunities, preparing budgets, and developing competitive research proposals. Our tailored workshops and mock grant reviews help improve submission quality and increase the likelihood of success. We will also have targeted mentorship workshops designed for postdocs, graduate students, and junior faculty that focus on career development awards like NIH F (NRSA) and K Awards, guiding participants through every step of the process.
- Seed Funding Hub: We offer seed grants to support preliminary research, helping faculty and trainees collect essential data for larger funding opportunities such as NIH R01 grants. Special funding is available for dissertation research that focuses on health resilience and disparities.
- Advanced Design and Data Analysis Hub: Our team provides expert consultation on advanced methodologies, including clinical trial designs, geospatial analysis, and ecological momentary assessment (EMA) for health disparities research. Training sessions help build critical data analysis skills.
Why It Matters
In today’s rapidly evolving research landscape, having the right support and resources can make the difference between a promising idea and a funded project. The Career and Grant Development Core is here to ensure that researchers are well-prepared to take on the most pressing health challenges, equipped with the tools to secure competitive funding and create lasting impact.
